Collection Overview
Abstract
Collection of over 300 religious tracts as well as records and meeting minutes of the operations of the Tract League.
Scope and Contents of the Materials
This collection contains a copy of each printed tract, including redesigns, and recolors. The collection also contains annual reports, correspondence, board reports, and meeting minutes. This collection is notable as it provides in-depth data on printing costs and popularity of religious tracts over a 100-year period. It also shows how graphic design and printing techniques changed over time.
Collection Historical Note
The Tract League (formerly the Faith, Prayer, and Tract League) was an organization within the Christian Reformed Church of North America created with the goal to spread the gospel through the printing and distribution of religious tracts. In 1960 the Tract League expanded operations to India, where it supported the local translation and production of tracts. The Tract League also supported Spanish-language translations of its tracts. The organization ceased operations in 2021.
