Title: John Vander Vate Collection, 1915-1951
Abstract
John Vander Vate worked for the United States Department of Public Health in Washington, DC. During the early years of World War II, prior to United States entry, he served as a mail intermediary between residents of occupied Netherlands and family not living in neutral nations. The early correspondence reflect this service. Post war correspondence details conditions in The Netherlands and Vander Vate's work in collecting data for tuberculosis research studies. The post cards detail scenes from The Netherlands during the 1910s and 1920s.
