Brandt Bruxvoort was born in Sully, Iowa on March 28, 1900. Bruxvoort initially attended Grundy Center College, where he met his future bride, Sophia Fryling. However, he transferred to Calvin College, graduating in 1927. He went on to Calvin Theological Seminary where he earned his Th.B. in 1930. At the 1930 Synod, the South American committee accepted Bruxvoort as their missionary. So, Bruxvoort and his new bride travelled to South America. During his time in South America, he was installed at San Cayetano, Tres Arroyos, and Los Pinos, Argentina and Carambehy, Brazil. He served as a missionary to the Dutch immigrants of Argentina and Brazil from 1930 to 1935.
In 1936 Bruxvoort took on neighborhood evangelism in areas of Michigan. He became a lay missionary in Denver, Colorado from 1943 until 1949. He then served the congregations of Sioux Falls, SD (1949-53) and Preakness, NJ (1953-59). In 1959 Bruxvoort returned to missionary work again, this time in in the towns of Cochrane and New Liskeard, Ontario. By 1966 Bruxvoort moved to Miami, Florida as a home missionary for the Spanish Mission. Bruxvoort retired in 1966.
During his retirement, he moved to back to Denver, Colorado where he continued his evangelism ministry. Toward the end, Bruxvoort suffered from Alzheimer's disease. On October 18, 1987 in a nursing home in Fort Collins, CO, Brandt Bruxvoort passed away. His wife, Sophia, had passed away earlier that year. They were survived by their 6 children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
