Abstract
Minister and Home Missionary of the Christian Reformed Church. This collection contains personal mementos, scrapbooks and photo albums, photographs, letters, and bulletins. He served as a minister or missionary in Flint, MI; San Diego, CA; Tucson, AZ; San Jose, CA; Palo Alto/Redwood City, CA; Gary, IN; Fort Collins, CO; Honolulu, HI; and Ripon, CA.
Biographical Note
Gerrit Bastian Boerfyn was born in Peoria, Iowa, on 6 February 1911 to Gerrit and Jennie Boerfyn. He graduated from Calvin College in 1937 and Calvin Theological Seminary in 1940 and was ordained as a minister in the Christian Reformed Church in North America. His ministerial career was focused on missions and church planting in the United States.
Boerfyn married Nellie Ada Vanden Berg from Kalamazoo, Michigan. They adopted two daughters Mary Lou and Ruth Ann. After Nellie died, he married Agnes. He died 20 July 200 in Ripon, CA.
