Abstract
Minister of the Christian Reformed Church. The collection includes correspondence, call letters, and a translated letter written on the 25th anniversary of the Pleasant Street Christian Reformed Church in Whitinsville, Massachusetts.
Biographical Note
Frederick J. Drost was born in Joure, Friesland, the Netherlands on January 11, 1863. In 1886, Drost was appointed “catechizeermeester” (similar to an assistant preacher) at the Established Church. After two years, Drost was appointed and stationed as evangelist in Wartena.
In 1890, Drost left the Established Church and joined the Reformed Church. He served the Wartena Reformed Church until he immigrated to Whitinsville, Massachusetts. From 1896 to 1904, Drost served the Whitinsville congregation. Drost also served a number of other congregations as well: Eastmanville, Michigan (1902-1905); Byron Center, Michigan (1905-1910); Leighton, Iowa (1910-1914); Los Angeles, California (1914-1917); Oak Harbor, Washington (1917-1922) and lastly Otley, Iowa in 1922.
