Abstract

The Research and Information Technology (RIT) committee (or, also known later as the Reference, Instruction, and Research Team (RIRT)) was an ad-hoc committee composed primarily of library and CIT staff to develop a research and technology course for the core curriculum at Calvin College.

Scope and Contents of the Materials

The RIT core course was intended for first-year and transfer students. RIT was proposed in fall of 1999 as a course to introduce students to the basic resources of Hekman Library, teach them basic computer hardware and software concepts, and help them develop ethically responsible judgement reguarding the appropriate use of information technology.

This collection is composed of primarily meeting minutes and handouts, course drafts, course and instruction surveys, and research into library technology resources. It ranges from November 1999 to June 2008.
