Abstract

Graduate of Calvin College (1995). Collection includes six issues of Life Quest, a comic book series about the end times; and a Calvin Spark, volume 44, number 4 (Winter 1998) which features the artist and his comics.

Biographical Note

Comic book artist and Calvin College alumni, Matt Vander Pol, is creator of the comic book series Life Quest. Although marketed as a secular comic, Vander Pol's series is inspired by the parables of Jesus Christ.  He was quoted as saying, "I want to be a Christian artist, and I believe this can reach kids without being preachy." He received the Russ Manning Award as the Most Promising Newcomer in the comic book arena.
