Meine was born in Lutten in the province of Overijsel, the Netherlands, December 27, 1868. He came to the United States with his parents in 1882. The family lived on a farm in East Saugatuck, Michigan.
After attending Hope College for five years, he graduated in 1897. His studies prepared him for a teaching career. However, when he finished his second year as instructor in the Lucas, Michigan, area, Meine became convicted that his calling was the ministry so he began his studies in the theological school in Grand Rapids, and became a candidate in 1904.
His first charge was in Platte, South Dakota. See the sermon collection for his first (intree) sermon on Isaiah 8:20. In May 1908 the Vander Heides moved to Sully, Iowa. After two years he accepted a call to Hospers, Iowa, and he remained until his sudden death in April 1925. His wife was Frederika Wilhemina Heynen.
Meine Vander Heide served the denomination as a member of the Board of Trustees and was delegated from Classis Orange City to Synod.
