Minister of the Christian Reformed Church. Recollections, written in the Dutch language, entitled Volume I, "Hand Gods; Herinnering uit mijn leven"; Volume II, "Harrison, South Dakota"; Volume III, "Carnes, Iowa"; Volume IV, "Hills, Minnesota."

Biographical Note

John B. Vanden Hoek was born in Chicago, Illinois on October 23, 1868. Vanden Hoek attended Calvin Theological Seminary to pursue a career in ministry. He graduated in 1905 and in October of that year he was ordained in Galesburg, Iowa. He served the congregation of Galesburg until 1908. Rev. Vanden Hoek other charges include Carnes, IA, 1908-14 and Volga, SD, 1914-18. Although Rev. Vanden Hoek retired in 1918, he went on to serve the congregation of Hills, MN from 1920 to 1924. Rev. John B. Vanden Hoek died on October 14, 1937 in Hull, Iowa. He was married to Helen Nieuwenhuis.
