The collection includes biographical information, correspondence, sermons, documents, class notes, journals, poems, articles, personal synodical information, personal book catalogue, and a paper advocating Indian/Native American missions.

Biographical Note

Roelof Times Kuiper was born on May 2, 1826 in Diever, Drenthe, Netherlands. He studied under Wolter Alberts Kok of Hoogeveen. Kuiper was ordained on 11 November 1850. Kuiper served the congregations of Dalfsen and Wildervank in the Netherlands.

In 1879, Kuiper immigrated to the United States to serve the congregation of Graafschap, Michigan. While in America, Kuiper was an advocate of home missions and Christian education. Kuiper had been elected president of the Christian Reformed Synod in 1880. By 1889, Rev. Kuiper went on to serve First South Holland in Illinois until his death on 31 December 1894.
