Abstract

Minister of the Christian Reformed Church, deposed. Deposition materials include press reports (Dutch and English), information on the Messiah Christian Reformed Church, Brooklyn, New York, and cassette tapes of the Judicial Code Committee hearings.

Biographical Note

Steve M. Schlissel was born in Brooklyn, New York on March 23, 1952. Schlissel received his theological training from private tutoring from Paul Szto and Greg Bahnsens (OPC). Schlissel's training was recognized by Classis Hudson and declared eligible for practicing ministry. In 1980 his first call to service was to the Baptist Brooklyn Metropolitan Church. His other charges include Missionary to Jews, New York (1981-1983); Messiah's Congregation, Brooklyn, New York (1983-1986); Messiah's Congregation CRC, Brooklyn, New York (1986-1992). In 1992, after a number of meetings and warnings from Classis Hudson, Steve M. Schlissel was deposed from the CRC.
