Abstract

Minister of the Gereformeerde Kerken in Nederland and professor of church polity at the Free University of Amsterdam. Bound class notes, entitled Kerkrecht, Volumes I and II, and Ethics.

Biographical Note

Frederick Rutgers was born in Breede, Netherlands on November 26, 1836. He earned his PhD from Leiden University in 1860.  In 1879 he became professor of church history and canon law at Free University of Amsterdam. He was appointed as rector, or member of the Executive Board, four times at Free University. He served at Free University until 1910. On March 19, 1917, Rutgers passed away in Amsterdam.
