Minister of the Christian Reformed Church. The collection includes seminary papers, seminary notes, and newsletters written to servicemen.

Biographical Note

Walter Ackerman was born in German Valley, Illinois, in 1918. Walter married Belle De Vries of Garfield, New Jersey, in 1942. They had three sons and four

daughters, all of whom attended Calvin College. He attended Calvin Theological Seminary and was ordained in the Christian Reformed Church in 1943. After seminary Ackerman studied at universities of Edinburgh, Scotland, and Victoria, Australia. He served churches in Coopersville, Michigan; Austinville, Iowa; Pease, Minnesota; Chicago, Illinois; Lynden, Washington; Bellflower, California; Everett, Washington; and Enumclaw, Washington.  Walter Ackerman died on 17 December 1982 in Enumclaw.
