Abstract

Professor of communication arts and sciences. The collection details the research materials used in his published books, articles, chapters, reviews, and speeches; plus material detailing grants, scholars programs, communication associations, awards, course work, correspondence, presentations, and clippings. The subject headings include the advertising and religious aspects of the media culture in films, television, internet, social networks, and communication theory practice. Biographical Note

A Chicago native, Quentin J. Schultze studied communication at the University of Illinois where he earned his Ph.D. in 1978. He taught at Drake University before becoming faculty at Calvin College in 1982. At first, Schultze joined a struggling Speech department, but over the course of 33 years, Schultze saw the department double in size. Due to his commitment to teaching and mentoring, Schultze earned the distinguished Presidential Award for Exemplary Teaching in 2000. His academic topics have ranged from social media, public speaking, resume writing, and communication ethics. Over the course of his career, Schultze has remained an avid writer. He has written a great number of articles and scholarly publications. He has been quoted and interviewed by major media outlets such as Newsweek, the Los Angeles Times, and the Chicago Tribune as well as many others.

At the time of this writing, Schultze is emeritus professor of communication at Calvin College. He is also a national speaker. He has lectured on the topic of communication at universities, schools, churches, and conventions. In 2011 Schultze became the founder and CEO of Edenridge Press LLC in Grand Rapids, MI. Since 2012 he has been on the board of director at Baker Publishing Group. Schultze and his wife, Barbara Hoekenga, live in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and have two children.
