Historical Note:

Hans Krabbendam is the Assistant-director of Roosevelt Study Center and Lecturer at University College Roosevelt in Middelburg, the Netherlands. He attended Leiden University and earned his M.A. degree in History. He then studied abroad at Kent State University earning his M.A. degree in American history. He returned to Leiden University to earn his Ph.D. in history, graduating in 1995.

He has been honored with many academic awards and research fellowships. His interests and topics of research include U.S. religious and immigration history, the Progressive Movement, and Theodore Roosevelt and the protections of minorities.  He has published the book, Freedom on the Horizon: Dutch Immigration to America, 1840-1940 in 2009.  He is affiliated various organizations such as the European Association for American Studies, the Organization of American Historians, and Netherlands American Studies Association.
