Name: Woldring, Eisse Harke (1884-1961)
Historical Note: Eisse Harke Woldring (1884-1961) was the son of Derk Woldring, a farmer in Zuidwold, the Netherlands, and Elisabeth Dijksterhuis. The younger Woldring came to Grand Rapids in 1910 and worked in local furniture factories for three years when he enrolled in Calvin College. He graduated from Calvin Seminary in 1921. With his wife, Sophia (Fie) Jongsma, also from the Netherlands but whom he married in California in 1918, he returned to the Netherlands, where he studies at the Theological School in Kampen for a year, was declared a candidate and accepted a call to the church in Kornhorn in 1922. He retired from the ministry in 1953 after experiencing a series of mild strokes.
