Name: Voskuil, Louis F. (1906-1990)

Historical Note:

Louis Frederick Voskuil was born in Baldwin, Wisconsin on February 10, 1906. Growing up, he was encouraged by two Christian Reformed ministers to pursue an education in ministry. Voskuil enrolled at Calvin College, graduating win 1929. He then furthered his education at University of Wisconsin. He later transferred to Calvin Theological Seminary where he graduated with a B.D. in 1933. Another important milestone that occurred in 1933 was the marriage between Voskuil and Ethel Landaal.

Voskuil's first charge was in fact serving two different churches simultaneously. He served Holland, IA (1933-37) and Grundy Center, IA (1933-36). One was a Dutch-speaking congregation and the other was German-speaking. Rev. Voskuil went on to serve the congregations of First, Wellsburg, IA (1937-46); Montello Park, Holland, MI (1946-52); First, Lynden, WA (1952-55); and Escalon, CA (1955-71). In October of 1971, Rev. Voskuil retired from active ministry.

When Rev. Voskuil was not at the pulpit, he remained busy serving on the Foreign and Home Mission Boards. He was also known as a great supporter of Christian education. He served on the Wellsburg Christian School and Holland Christian School while ministering in those communities.

On January 23, 1990 Rev. Louis Voskuil passed away due to kidney failure in Visalia, California. He was known for his gentle and humble demeanor. He was survived by his wife, Ethel.
