Scope and Contents: The Dutch American Historical Commission collection includes minutes, reports, correspondence, notes, research material, workshop materials, and publication materials. The materials in this collection give insight into the projects of the individual member institutions as well as the process of joint projects such as workshops and publications.
A notable part of the collection are the papers on the translation of Johannes Stellingwerff’s book, Amsterdamse Emigraten, which contained a series of reciprocal letters between Amsterdam and settlements in Iowa. These papers include notes and correspondence on the publishing contract, fundraising process, and translation process of what would be published as, Iowa Letters.
