Arrangement: The postcards in this collection came in 16 binders. Postcards and letters that did not fit in the box were placed in a larger box. There are tan cards placed in the postcard boxes which will direct you to look for the oversized item in the larger box. The folders titled with a range of letters (A-F, G-L, M-V, W-Z) contain postcards from cities, organized by city name in alphabetical order.

Abstract
The Conrad and Dee Bult Postcard Collection is comprised of 2320 postcards collected by the Bults. The postcards in the collection feature communities with Dutch immigrants in several states, most prominently Michigan. A significant portion of the postcards feature churches.
Scope and Contents of the Materials
The Conrad and Dee Bult Postcard Collection is comprised of 2320 postcards collected by the Bults. The collection is focused on communities with Dutch immigrants. A majority of the postcards picture imagery of Michigan, with a significant portion featuring Grand Rapids and Grand Haven. A section of the postcards feature churches, with one portion of the collection specifically featuring churches from small towns in the United States. Other states are represented in this collection include New Jersey, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, New York, and Iowa. Iowa is the state that is most represented after Michigan. Many of the cards in this collection are blank, some are personal cards sent through the mail, and some are advertisements.
Collection Historical Note
The postcards in this collection were acquired by Conrad and Dee Bult. Conrad served as a librarian at Calvin University for 34 years. His wife Dee worked for the Financial Aid Office at Calvin for more than 20 years. The Bults purchased the postcards in this collection mostly from other collectors. The Bults also collected a large collection of children’s books that is housed in the rare book room of the Hekman Library at Calvin.
Biographical Note
Bult graduated from Calvin in 1957 as a history major. He then spent two years in the army. When he got out of the army in 1959, he continued his education at the University of Michigan. After getting his masters' in library science, he taught English and was the librarian at Chicago Christian High School. Finally, in the fall of 1965, he returned to Calvin's old Franklin Campus as the periodical librarian.
