Name: Stellingwerff, Johannes (1924-)

Historical Note: Johannes Stellingwerff was born in Groningen, the Netherlands on December 5, 1924. Stellingwerff attended Technische Hoogeschool [Delft Polytechnic University] and studied civil engineering. He went on to earn his doctorate in 1959. He became the librarian for the newly opened Technical University in Eindhoven, Netherlands. By 1960 Stellingwerff moved on to become the librarian at the Free University of Amsterdam. He would stay at the Free University for twenty-seven years. Stellingwerff was also a writer, he published Inzicht in Virtual Reality: een media-filosofie als reisgids voor het landschap van de geest and Doeff van Deshima, kenner van Japan, Koopman en diplomat.
