Abstract

Reporter for the Dutch periodical De Spiegel. Articles entitled "From Immigrant to Immigrant," describing life among immigrants in Hoboken, New Jersey; Denver, Colorado; Salt Lake City, Utah; and Ripon, California. The articles were published in De Spiegel of May 17, June 21, July 19, and August 30, 1952. Translated by E. R. Post.

Biographical Note

Mary Pos was considered to be one of the first female travel journalist. Pos was an avid traveler as well as lecturer and author. She gave about 3,000 lectures and wrote over 2,000 articles for various journals and newspapers. She also published 25 youth novels.  Pos began writing for the Algemeen Handelsblad, an Amsterdam based newspaper in 1929. Pos also wrote for the De Spiegel, in which her illustrated stories helped the family-oriented magazine flourished to over 100,000 subscribers.
