Abstract

Immigrants from Friesland to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The extensive letter collection chronicles post-World War II, Canadian, experiences of Roelof and Geertje Groenink. Their correspondents were as follows: Anna van Ravenschot, St. Johannesga, Friesland; Tet Wiersma Straatsma, Giekerk, Frisland; the Bonnema family, Enschede, Overijssel; and others. Selected letters are summarized in the inventory folder.

Abstract The collection includes letters, memoirs, and recollections from Germany. The materials are written in German, Dutch, and/or a dialect. This mixture of languages is due to the geographic proximity of Germany and the Netherlands, plus the historic border alterations. Part of the collection has been transcribed and translated.
