The collection includes personal correspondence with back up documents. The letters are written in Dutch by Peter (Pieter) Verwolf from the South Dakota Penitentiary, Sioux Falls, South Dakota to his wife Mary (Merrigje) van den Berg Verwolf and their two children in Harrison, Douglas County, South Dakota. The letters were translated by Gerrit W. Sheeres.

John Vogelzang Collection

The collection includes: autobiographical materials, letters, a will, and a paper entitled "Two Worlds of Mercy; A Story of God's Covenant Mercies Toward One of His Children-an Immigrant from the Old World of Europe to the New World of America." The handwritten, autobiographical scrolls were transcribed in 2007.
